When you are preparing to shop for your dream dress, so many questions can start to bubble up which can leave you feeling a bit intimidated before booking your first dress appointment.
Firstly, you will want to collect some inspiration to help the process get started. Having an idea of what you are looking for can help guide the appointment. From there you will be able to make choices that feel good to you, but you won’t know exactly what you like until you see the dresses in person and on your body.
WHAT TO WEAR & BRING
Our most asked question is what to wear and what is needed to bring to the first appointment. You will want to wear underwear. We suggest wearing light or nude colors as sometimes bright colors can be seen through the dress. Bras are optional as we have support built into each of our dresses, but if you prefer to wear one we suggest wearing strapless. Your shoes are also optional, you don’t need to have “the ones” picked out before you choose the dress. You are more than welcome to bring them if you have them but are not mandatory. We have pedestals for our brides to stand on that give the illusion of how the dress will look with a heel.
GET INTO A POSITIVE SPACE
When you are trying to find your dream dress, you are looking for a magical moment where you connect to the feeling of the dress. If you are having a tough time emotionally, it will impact your appointment. We suggest trying to get into as much of a positive mind space as possible, especially when it comes to body image and self talk. You are gorgeous, and your wedding dress is going to look stunning on you – no matter what shape and size you are. Remember, you are connecting to a dress that tells your love story, and will show off a piece of who you are.
SELECT YOUR SUPPORTIVE ENTOURAGE
We have all heard the saying “less is more” and that is most definitely the case here. Trying on dresses can be overwhelming even for those of us who know what we are looking for. The more people in your entourage – the more opinions. Connecting to “THE DRESS” is an emotional moment and you want to be sure you are bringing people who support your vision and dream for your wedding. Our stylists are trained to help manage the emotions of a less than supportive audience, but we like to plant this seed in your mind ahead of time so that you can choose your entourage wisely. We want you to have the best experience and also – have your moment with tears when your dream dress finds you.
This can be the most uncomfortable part of the wedding dress experience. Know that we have a range of dresses from $800 – $6,000. If you are looking for a completely custom look those prices depend on the design. We are confident that you will be able to find what you are looking for while staying in budget. Our location has over 600 wedding dresses for you to choose from including almost 100 plus size options.
